SALOME 2239 is...very complicated to explain. There are so many layers I wanted to add to the biblical story. And that is mainly because the interactions between these characters have always fascinated me. They are so wrong on so many levels. Immoral, dark, twisted, desperate and yet...these characters always gave me the impression that they were searching for something. A release from their condition. They cries out to me their consuming need to break free from the weight of their abnormal lives. So, in order to give them the understanding they so much seemed to need, I decided to throw them in a context that would eventually break them and in doing so help them experience their own spiritual awakening, on different levels. The idea of a society bred by a manipulating AI, that forbids any type of emotion, all underneath the image of a very skilfully constructed dictatorial propaganda, seems to me disturbingly familiar. So, I wanted to go deeper into what is it that makes us human beings? Because it sure isn't society, or education, nor philosophy or science. What is humanity's only salvation in a world of political and global destructive interests? And, once we've anihilated most of what we call today's world, in a post-apocalyptic future, what can remain of our true humanity? Once we've forgotten the immense and absolute power of emotions, what is it that could reignite our dormant memories? Salomé 2239 is a story about lost beings. About humans that have abandoned themselves in the arms of those who convinced them that they know best. It's a story about those who have allowed themselves to fall prey to those who want to keep mankind's immortal souls chained in a monotonous, grey and pointless existence. Salomé 2239 is a warning to all those that have forgotten that there is nothing more important, vital and revealing than love. Salomé 2239 is a whisper of discomfort in a world of forgotten truth, unbearable questioning and eternal longing for our higher selves.
